Prof. Benjamin Miller is a specialist ophthalmologist in eye diseases and surgeries.
Professor Miller is a graduate of the Haifa Reali school in biology studies, Graduate of The Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem, and served as a Flight Physician during his IDF military service.
Professor Miller had his residensy in Ophthalmology at the Rambam Medical Center. Later, he studied eye microsurgery, glaucoma and intraocular inflammations at St Johns Eye Hospital of the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa
Fellowship in retinal and vitreous surgery and disease at the Moorfield Eye Hospital in London and at the Doheny Eye Institute at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
Professor Miller was the Director of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Rambam Medical Center from 1990 to 2012, served as chairman of Ophthalmology Department of the Faculty of Medicine at the Technion during the same years; he is an Associate Professor at this Faculty since 1990.
Published about 100 original articles in professional journals for eye diseases, many of them about the study of retinal diseases, and participated in the development of photodynamic therapy ( PDT) for Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD).
His major research topics – Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), epiretinal membranes and scarring on the retina and in the vitreous, diabetic retinopathy, injuries and their treatment in the depth of the eye and imaging using OCT.
Today Professor Miller is a senior ophthalmologist and retinal disease specialist consultant at the Tel Aviv Medical Center (Ichilov)
